This talk is geared towards current students, students who just graduated, and people who are entry-level professionals! It's a joint partnership hosted by ACM UMD and ACM DC!

ABSTRACT: As you may know, the technology industry and the overall economy is quite turbulent as of late. However shocking these current trends are to young professionals (i.e. hard to find internships/jobs, layoffs, etc.), they don't surprise people who are older that understand economic booms and busts through experience. Yingquan will go over what we can understand about the current macroeconomic environment by examining what we can learn from the 2000 dot-com crash and the 08/09 financial crisis. Yingquan will give you the practical mindset as well as practical tips that you need to have in order to successfully navigate current economic times and launch a career in tech when the economy inevitably improves.

BIO: Yingquan has an M.S. degree from Virginia Tech and a B.S. degree from the U. of Maryland - College Park both in STEM. Previously he worked for The Wharton School (U. of Pennsylvania), Deloitte, PwC, and Gartner doing data engineering, data science/analytics. He has worked in both the private sector and the public sector, as well as an innovative academic research lab. He has a strong passion for learning about and understanding macroeconomic trends and technology waves.
