Despite the current Internet architecture supporting both static and mobility (Mobile IP) and tending to be secure, we still receive Spams every day and we also frequently experience significant delays in content retrieval. Based on several literature findings, the current Internet architecture was not originally designed to support mobility and was never prone to the hundreds of today’s sophisticated attacks on its reliability and privacy. Therefore, during the past decade, many research efforts have been triggered to redesign the current “host-centric” Internet architecture. The rationale behind those efforts is contingent on the Internet thirst of end-users, which has been exponentially growing to support fancy applications disseminating enormously sized contents. Almost every effort to change the Internet architecture intersects at the concept of Content Delivery Networks.

In this talk, the speaker will briefly look at the driving forces for one of the popular Future Internet architectures known as Named Data Network (NDN). He will also discuss our contributions to the field of Vehicular NDN. Finally, the speaker will look at NDN’s applicability and an application use-case in terms of automating traffic violation ticketing using vehicular communications.

Speaker Biography:
Syed Hassan Ahmed completed his BS from KUST, Pakistan, and his M.S./Ph.D. from Kyungpook National University, South Korea, both in computer science & engineering, in 2012 and 2017, respectively. Later, he was a post-doc with the University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA and on the faculty of the CS Department of Georgia Southern University (GSU) at Statesboro, USA, where his research interests included sensor and ad hoc networks, cyber-physical systems, vehicular communications, and Future Internet. Currently, Dr. Hassan is with JMA Wireless as a Product Specialist with a focus on distributed antenna systems and mmWave products.
