About us
Welcome to Atheists Volunteer - Greater Los Angeles! We are a program of Atheists United designed to put our community's humanist values into action. We welcome all people regardless of identity to help us build a better world through volunteering.
If you would like to organize, host, or share a project you're excited about and think Atheists Volunteer would be a great partner just message any of our group organizers and we'll be sure to reply ASAP.
We hope to see you at one of our future volunteer events. Also, once you volunteer over 10 hours you get a free t-shirt!

West LA Highway Cleanup🦺🧹
Missouri Avenue & South Westgate Avenue, Los Angeles, CA, USAtheists United supports the community by sponsoring bi-weekly highway cleanups in partnership with CalTrans Adopt-A-Highway Program. We serve two locations, the 2 freeway in Glendale and the 405 highway in West Los Angeles. Please help us keep Los Angeles clean!
NEW LOCATION:
We'll meet at Stoner Park on Westgate Ave (between Missouri Ave and Nebraska) see map. Look for a red Toyota 4Runner SUV (call Steve, the organizer, if you can't find the group 310-686-8862). After everyone parks we'll drive/carpool to the stretch of freeway on the 405 freeway between National and Santa Monica Blvd.
What to wear:
Sturdy shoes, long pants, a hat, and sunscreen. Dress in layers because it can start out cold and warm up during the morning. We'll provide bags, gloves and grabbers so you won't have to bend over to pick up trash. Minimum age to participate is 16 years old.
Lunch/Dinner or Refreshments:
We'll pick a place for refreshments after the cleanup.
How long:
The highway clean up will take about 2 hours plus optional get together for refreshments afterwards.
RSVP:
Please remember to change your RSVP to "no" if you can't make it. This is common courtesy. Also especially important if you are the only other volunteer signed up, because we can't do the cleanup with only one person.
Other details:
Please post any questions you have in the comments and I'll update the event with more details.

Atheists Volunteer FOOD DISTRIBUTION! Come help and give out food!
2535 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA, USAtheists United, California's largest grassroots atheist nonprofit, is fighting the emergency food crisis with our partners Sunday Assembly Los Angeles by hosting a food distribution in Los Angeles outside our offices. We need volunteers to help us assemble and organize food packages from 12pm - 5pm every third Friday.
From 3:30pm - 5pm volunteers will help hand food out directly to those in need in the neighborhood. From 5pm - 6pm we'll clean up and celebrate everything we accomplished together. Music and snacks will make it well worth your time.
