About us
This group is for anyone that enjoys acoustic music - especially getting together to jam! Guitar players, keyboards, ukulele, singers, and more. This is for musicians of all levels to get together - some meetups will be geared to beginners and others to intermediate or expert. For those of you who play electric guitar, bass, or keyboards, you're welcome too. If we jam outside without a place to plug in, you'll be limited though.

Ukecetera!
Bay State Cohousing, 368 Pleasant St, Malden, MA, USJoin us for some cheerful jamming! We're mixed-level acoustic music players and lovers. And we love singing!
Our musical tastes range from jug band to folk to rock to pop to gospel to Americana. Yeah, eclectic!
We're mostly ukulele players—our song sheets favor ukes—however, some of us play guitar, banjo, mandolin, washboard, viola, clarinet, etc.; if you play any acoustic instrument, please join us. All are welcome!
We're a small, growing group: expect about 8 folks, some of whom aren't on Meetup. :}
No instrument? We have one or two ukuleles to share.
We most often play songs from
- Ukulele Clare: https://www.ukuleleclare.com/song-sheets
- San Jose Ukulele Club: https://sanjoseukeclub.org/songs
- Jim's Songs AKA Ozbcoz: https://ozbcoz.com/Songs/
- Our BSC Uke Song Collection
See *BSC Uke Resources for a more complete list of our song sources, as well as links to chord charts and other ukulele tools and music theory resources.
We go around, taking turns, each (optionally) choosing a song to play together. It's best if you can bring a tablet/laptop to view the songs chosen. Bring music you'd like to share.
If you drive: Park in the driveway to the left of the entrance (but NOT in the parking lot to the left of the driveway).
Public transportation: Take the T's Orange Line to Malden Center and walk ~five minutes (2/10 of a mile)

What folks are saying
"Ladin's voice is a revelation. Clear, strong, delicate and emotive all at the same time, her exemplary examples of adult love songs deal with complicated subject matter, yet never lose their swing or get bogged down by maudlin sentimentality. In fact, the music is gorgeous."
NO DEPRESSION"Evie Ladin is a natural entertainer with a gift for infusing folk practices with contemporary verve."
SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLEMore about the workshop
Beyond percussion, we use the term Body Music to include all the sounds made by your human instrument. Traditional styles of Body Music exist all over the world. Clap, step and sing, to literally incorporate the music into more than just your voice. Hold patterns that underlie your vocal improvisations, and learn to include and blend clapping and stepping with the sound of your singing for a total body and mind experience.
All you need are comfortable clothes and curiosity. No experience needed!1 attendee
