A Behavioral Approach to Policy Design

Mariel Beasley focuses her work for the Center for Advanced Hindsight (CAH) on behavioral research and its application in financial services and public policy.

In 2015, the Obama administration issued an executive order "Using Behavioral Science Insights to Better Serve the American People," which compelled government organizations to apply behavioral science research and methodology in the design and optimization of federal policies. That's where Mariel comes in.

She is a Principal at the CAH and is co-director of the Common Cents Lab. Her talk will take a look at the natural allegiance between government and behavioral science, exploring how governments begun to incorporate behavioral science and what they've learned along the way.
