55+ Active & Social

(THIS GROUP IS CLOSING JUNE 2026) 55+ Active and Social began nearly 15 years ago, and in that time it has been truly life-changing for so many of us. Most of us found this group during a season of transition—new to the DC area, newly single, newly retired…something nudged us to step out and look for friendship, connection, and a little adventure.

Over time, as life has evolved for all of us, so too has our ability to keep this group running in the way it deserves. As organizers, we’ve reached a point where we’re no longer able to fill the calendar and sustain the level of activity that made this group so special.

We are excited to point you toward another wonderful meetup community: 51+ Fit, Active and Social. Join Here Many of you may already be members, but if not, we warmly encourage you to join. It’s a vibrant, welcoming group that shares the same spirit—bringing together active, curious, and social people who enjoy trying new things and building connections. Some of our 55+ organizers will also be hosting events there, so you’ll see familiar faces.

Over the next few months, we’ll help ease the transition. You’ll see events posted here and cross-posted with the 51+ group, with links directing you to RSVP through their page. We’ll continue this through June, and the 55+ group will officially close when we do not renew organizer dues in July.
