Kayak the scenic Musconetcong River to Tilcon Lake
Kayak the Musconetcong River to Tilcon Lake. This is set in and out at the same place. We will put in at Saxton Lake and head up the river for approximately four miles. Our kayaking trip will take us through floodplain forests and wetland meadows. Wildlife can be seen everywhere. This is an incredibly beautiful paddle. As we paddle upriver you will see many birds, animals and so many flowering plants. If we are lucky, we may see some bears and snakes. Near Tilcon Lake, there may be an area to portage. This is only if the river is extremely low. It is not hard and only a short area with gravel bottom. We will head upriver just a little more and then head into Tilcon Lake. We will pull our boats out and take a break for lunch. We will then enjoy a paddle around the lake before returning to the river and back to our cars.
The river water is smooth with no rapids but there can be a small current.
There are no rentals. You must bring your own kayak.
There are no restrooms at this meetup. You can use the restroom just down the road at the Sussex branch rail trail parking lot or at Saxton Dam

Kayaking Rules and Regulations -
Only canoes, kayaks, or similar watercrafts are allowed at this event. Paddleboards, surfboards, and all other craft designed to be operated while standing are prohibited. Swimming or entering the water from shore or from boats is prohibited. Boats shall be hand-carried from the parking area to the designated boat launch.
