Details
Let's take a hike and see two spectacular waterfalls near Mountain Rest, SC
First,
We will start our hike from the parking lot at Burrells Ford to the Foothills Trail on the left of the road and then take the spur toward the Chattooga River to Spoonauger Falls, a 50 foot falls set into a hillside and surrounded by an explosion of shrubbery. We will then hike along the river and cut across to Kings Creek Falls, a 70 foot falls through a laurel-choked gorge.
This is generally considered an easy to moderate hike, approximately 5 miles.
Please wear good hiking shoes. Bring water, and a snack. Dress according to weather.
Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.
From Walhalla go 8mi NW on SC28, 10 mi N on SC 107, then 2.3mi E (left) on Burrells Ford Road (Road sign missing but there is a sign for camping and Kings Creek Falls). The road starts off as paved and becomes gravel. It is 1.5 mi N of Cherry Hill. There are facilities and no parking fees.
