What we’re about
About this opportunity:
This is a low stakes learning/training opportunity for actors and myself.
This opportunity is for people that just want to play, hone their acting and collaborative creative skills, get some footage, network, and create artist relationships that can always lead other places.
The idea is that we will devise/improv scenes, I can write them, you can write them, or we can play with scenes from films/shows we like, just like an acting class.
Ideally, this group includes people who are versatile in their interests and skills—willing to operate professional audio equipment or even the camera if shown how—so I can step into scenes as well. Of course, there’s no pressure if that’s outside your comfort zone, but I’m drawn to artists who want to get hands-on with all aspects of filmmaking.
About me:
I’m primarily a performer with some decent credits (HBO, Prime, Netflix [Live Theater]) and a company member at Synetic Theater in DC. I’ve been training at an acting studio in Atlanta since April, and I moved here in February. Most of my free time is spent studying film and filmmaking.
I produced a cooking show with a dual-camera setup and quality lav mics for about a year, which gave me the confidence that I can run a small set. I’ve also worked as a PA on various-sized productions and have a good sense of what makes a set run smoothly—and what doesn’t.
I’ve always wanted to make films but got stuck in the “can’t do it until…” mindset, which, as most creatives know, is a massive barrier to momentum.
Now I’m ready. I’m looking for a core group of actors and collaborators—people I can reach out to the way many directors build their trusted crews and casts.
I’m especially drawn to arthouse films with slightly off-beat tones but strong narrative undercurrents. I admire Yorgos Lanthimos’ early work—where mundane moments are the substance—and love the feeling of watching “nothing” unfold with cinematic precision. While I do aspire to industry-level production quality, it’s not about prestige—it’s about having access to the full creative toolbox, including the explosives, fire and fly-wires.
Equipment, My Business:
I’ve had a Panasonic G7 since 2018 (originally released in 2015). Aside from auditions, I never really used it for creative projects—something I’ve always felt a bit regretful about.
Now, paired with a Zoom H5 and a Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun mic, I’m equipped for solid production quality. The G7 shoots 4K at 24fps, and with this audio setup, we can make things look and sound good with a compact footprint.
I recently registered my LLC—Semiotic Media LLC—so part of this post is also a call for entrepreneurial artists who are ambitious, reliable, and excited to build something from the ground up. I have long-term plans for this venture, including acquiring a Netflix-approved cinema camera. That means scaling production value—and eventually, going after awards.
If you are interested please email me directly @ semioticmediaworks@gmail.com with some background info (name, location-(just city so I can plan meets)). [This is also in the welcome greeting], but in case you missed it :)
Can’t wait to see where this leads.

P.S. I will be traveling to from June 15 - August 10, so I will running this group from DC if possible, then returning to Atlanta to continue, so I can add Atlanta people to my contacts while I'm away.
