Samhain Ritual for the Ancestors

As darkness prevails over the land, the veil between our physical world and the spirit world is thinner than usual. It is no surprise that traditional festivals such as Halloween in English-speaking countries, All Souls' Day in Europe and Día de los Muertos in Mexico all take place during this time of the year.

Astrologically, Samhain falls in the middle of Scorpio season, the sign of death and the Underworld, our annual reminder that death is a part of life.

To honour the ancestors and the past is to honour our own journey through them. They might be gone physically, but their spirits live on through us and our lineage.

Let's gather online for a moment of rembrance, gratitude and reflection around the themes of the past, death & the ancestors.

PROGRAMME:
Opening circle & sharing

Meditation to connect with the ancestors
Samhain ritual to lay the past to rest (at the altar)
Sharing & closing circle

Create your altar - what you'll need:
A picture of an ancestor or departed loved one (can be a pet)
A candle (or multiple)
A piece of paper & a pen for intentions
An personal object you'd like to charge during this ritual (stone, jewelry, figurine,...)
A plate of food (fruit, nuts, cooked food)
Seasonal flowers, such as chrysathemum, or other nature finds (dried petals, leaves, branches, feathers, stones,...)

Feel free to create and adapt your altar to your needs. It doesn't have to be big or include all of the things listed above. The important thing is that it's meaningful to you.

Please note that this is not a metaphysical ritual. We won't be calling in random spirits or drawing pentagrams. We will simply be honouring our ancestors and the past.

This event is open to everyone. You don't need to have previous experience in rituals or meditation to join the circle.
