Blackwood Hill Reserve - All the trails – Loop Walk

Details

Blackwood Hill Reserve (BHR) is a large parcel of land that sits adjacent to Sturt Gorge and the Craigburn Farm Trails. Its most walked trail is the Magpie Creek Hike, however, on this journey we are going to include many of the lesser used trails and tracks such as Borderline Blue, Gully Blue, Batten Blue, Blue Division, Blue Tooth (do you sense a theme here?) as well as Border line Green, Clematis Connector, Trevor Travers, BFL Walk and the various Fire Tracks which form the Reserve. This hike is exclusively in BHR where we weave around and throughout the park connecting into all the trails.
PUBLIC TOILETS: If required before the hike, there is a block on Shepherd’s Hill Rd, located at the pedestrian crossing opposite Woolworths.
TIME ALLOWANCE: Moving time is 2½ hours (approximately 10 km). Add in a 10 – 15 min break, plus pauses to appreciate our splendid environment, allow 3 hours to complete this walk and extra if staying for refreshments.
CAR PARKING: There is plenty at the Coromandel Valley Train Station lower carpark on the corner of Brighton and Johnson Parade.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: A train can be caught from Adelaide via the Blackwood line, getting off at Coromandel Railway Station in Blackwood South.
AFTERWARDS: Food and drinks can be had at a nearby café five minutes’ walk up the road from our meeting location.

Please remember to wear sturdy footwear, bring water and protect yourself from the weather conditions of the day. This walk requires a good level of fitness to be on the trail for about 3 hours.

If you change your mind, please edit your “RSVP to not going” as this allows other people to attend; and to be fair to those on time we will wait a maximum of 5 minutes for latecomers. This walk is not suitable for children or pets.

Walker Safety:
🚶‍♂️⚠️ Each participant is responsible for their own safety and that of their guests. Make sure your guests are aware it’s a hiking event and come prepared with water, proper footwear, and weather protection.
