The Git version control system is becoming increasingly popular amongst developers. Not only do the latest versions of Visual Studio and TFS both ship with support for Git, but Microsoft are now using Git (on GitHub and Codeplex) to publicly develop parts of the .NET Framework. Already popular amongst many open source projects, Git is also being used more and more for internal/commercial software development too.

In this talk, David Rogers will introduce us to Git

• Show how to get started using Git for version control.

• Contrast how Git being a 'distributed' version control system is different to 'centralised' systems like TFVC and Subversion.

• Demonstrate how to use Git from the command-line as well as from within Visual Studio
