A Late Monday Afternoon Walk along the Field River Trail.
Details
PLEASE NOTE: It’ll be a 3 hour event.
It’ll be more of an exploratory, meandering walk than a walk along a set track or loop.
Walking poles could be handy - or a good sense of balance!
Some of the surfaces will be a bit slippery following rain.
I’ll postpone the walk if there’s been too much rain in the few days beforehand.
We’ll meet at the end of Woodend Dr, then head south along the Field River Trail.
Be prepared for uneven surfaces, rocky and makeshift tracks. If it’s been raining much in the days prior to the walk, also be prepared for creek crossings (only a meter or so wide, trickling and not deep). There are stepping stones in most of them!
There are a couple of steep climbs, but they’re short!
We’ll find some amazing surprises in the area, which is full of local history. There are interesting built ruins and structures left from the mining era, as well as tunnels and remnants of the huge flying fox that transported the mined stone all the way down to the bottom of O’Halloran Hill.
This is a really interesting and memorable walk, hidden away to the west of the Southern Expressway.
Bring your SENSE of ADVENTURE!
PLEASE NOTE this is a 3 hour event.
