Meet & Greet for Adults with ADHD
Details
Please consider joining us for the first "real world" event for the "Hey Look, a Squirrel" meetup group since before the pandemic. We will be meeting at Old Town Saloon in Old Town on Thursday, October 12 from 7 pm to 9 pm for a "Meet & Greet" happy hour.
The Old Town Saloon is centrally located, close to public transportation and parking isn't horrible - if you don't mind walking a few blocks from the park and ride. We'll be meeting in the back area of Old Town Saloon where there are there are three pool tables for anyone who likes playing pool - but if you just want to yack it up that is fine also.
Stay as long or as short a time as you wish - grab a beer, cocktail, or soft drink and find someone to interrupt. Seriously, we have LOTS to talk about so try to make it if you can. It's always interesting to meet people who think the way you do so this should be fun.
The previous "ADHD in San Diego" group was run by a group of professional psychologists had been inactive for some time. Earlier this year, I saw that this group had been abandoned so merged it with our smaller "Hey Look a Squirrel" group that had been organized earlier. We had a few online meetings since then, and they were interesting, but not really well attended. I think that was around the time when everyone was getting sick of virtual meetings.
For this reason, I've decided it's time for a rebrand; "ADHD in San Diego" always sounded a bit clinical to me- so we will be going with the "Hey Look, A Squirrel!" name from now on. We also want to take another shot at organizing some "in real life" meetings - because they are much more fun, and hopefully, other events will follow.
Please let me know if you would like to help out with community organizing in any capacity. There's lots to do and I can't do it all by myself, but I think a group like this is needed and could have lots of potential - for making new friends if nothing else.
Hope to meet some of you at this mid-October event - don't forget to put it on your calendar - some of us can be a little forgetful about dates :-) Also, be sure to tell other folks with ADHD who you might know about this It will be interesting if just a few people show up, but the more the merrier.
Cheers
Rob G.
