What we’re about
Welcome to Adirondack Paddlers and Adventures! We are a paddle focused adventure group that primarily ventures out into the Adirondack Mountains. So gear up and bring your boat, be prepared for anything from short day trips to week long adventures in the woods. Paddling isn’t all we do either, many hikes and other adventures will be posted, often with a paddling component, and when the paddling season ends and the water turns hard the hardiest of us venture out with snow shoes and backpacks for winter adventures. There are adventures for people of every experience level. Please read this in its entirety including the waiver.
Please note: PFDs are required to be worn on our paddles by everyone, and as required by law a whistle or other sounding device is also required as is a white light for night trips or if you plan on paddling at night on a camping trip.
Trips will be broken down by difficulty level, these levels take things like distance, current, portages and whether or not you’ll have to get out of your boat into consideration. Trips will be rated easy; flat water with little to no current and no chance of exiting the boat, intermediate; longer distances with possibly stronger currents and a chance of exiting the boat for beaver dams or blowdown, and hard; very long distances or strong currents, or the chance of getting out of the boat is high with portages likely. These guidelines should help each paddler stay within their own limits. While we all look out for each other, we expect each person to accept responsibility for their own safety by realizing their limits in their boat. It is important to note that weather can change the difficulty of the trip due to things like strong wind and choppy water, please check the event description and comments for a scheduled trip often. Make sure to ask questions if you are uncertain about what is expected for each event.
Posted start times are the time we expect to have all gear unloaded and are ready to be on the water.
We paddle all year round (as long as the water is liquid), cold water kills quickly and appropriate gear such as a wet or dry suit may be required as safety equipment for high risk paddles in addition to a PFD and other safety equipment.
