Boreas Ponds - Camping trip
Details
Description: 3 days 2 nights on Boreas Pond. This Is supposed to be an amazing trip and I’m excited to finally be able to do it. The plan is to meet at the parking lot and carry our gear the 0.5 miles down the road to the pond. Here we can load our gear into our boats and look for a wilderness spot 150’ from shore (a non-designated site in the woods somewhere) or we can set up camp at the lean-to (at the launch) group consesus wins. From there we can explore the ponds. I have this planned as a three day trip, the pond itself Is relativelyely small for three days of exploring, we could stay on the pond Monday and Tuesday and explore and hang out, or the option exists to paddle back to the cars Tuesday morning and explore nearby trails and/or water ways. Nearby Adams Mountaintain is a favorite of mine. Wednsday morning we paddle out.
Difficulty: intermediate, this is a completely flat water paddle with total three day distance under 15-20 miles, however there is a 0.5 mile portage from the cars to the pond. Any added trips or hikes could change the difficulty.
Food: The first night dinner is normally a communal event I will have brats and buns with sauerkraut, if you want to bring a side or desert feel free, please post in the comments section what you intend to bring. No one is required to participate in the communal dinner, and if you want a brat please dont feel obligated to bring a side. All other meals are the participants responsibility.
Safety: PFDs are required to be worn on our trips. A whistle or appropriate sounding device is required, also bring a white light. Dress appropriately for the weather, this is a cold water paddle a dry suit will be required to paddle with the group. The nights will be cold as well, have appropriate cold weather clothing and camping gear, if you’re not sure what to bring or need to borrow something please reach out. Additionally, this will be after daylight savings and the days will be short, bring lighting.
