Henderson Lake - Day trip
Details
Enjoying an early season paddle on the head waters of the mighty Hudson River. This is a great trip with magnificent views in the heart of the Adirondacks. Bring a picnic lunch, we will be stopping at the lean-to to eat. A chair may be handy but is not necessary.
Difficulty: Intermediate-Hard, this is an easy flat water paddle, 5-6 miles around the perimeter of the lake, but there is a 0.5 mile walk from the parking lot to the launch. The trail is mostly road, all flat and very wheelable with a cart. However, there may be snow/ice this time of the year in places.
Safety: This is a cold water paddle, a drysuit, while not strictly required, is highly encouraged. A wet suit, at least, needs to be worn. If neither are available wear warm moisture wicking clothes (think wool) in layers and NEVER paddle alone. PFDs are always required to be worn, a whistle and white light should also be on your person. This time of year I recommend you bring a dry bag with warm dry clothes in case of capsize.
