As usual, there will be 🍻, 🍿 and great discussions after the following presentations:
R at the Swiss Federal Statistical Office
Renger van Nieuwkoop
R is increasingly becoming one of the standard tools at FSO. This development has accelerated in the last two years. Many sections have recently started using R in production. There is an R community that promotes the use of R at BFS with its own Confluence page, courses and more. In the talk, the organization of the R community will be discussed and some examples will be presented.
Fabian Santi
At the FSO, efforts are being made to offer the data in a more user-friendly way. The SFO provides some public APIs to access its data and metadata. To simplify the use of these APIs, we would like to make available an R and/or Python library to access this information more easily. Two "Proofs of Concept" have been developed and will be presented.
Shiny Applications at VBZ
Yana Neuenschwander
Comprehensive and easily accessible data is crucial and gaining in importance for further increasing the quality of the public transport in the City and Canton of Zurich. We from the VBZ data team use R and Shiny to build applications to support VBZ professionals in monitoring, planning, and fine-tuning different aspects of public transport. As decision-making often requires highly specific analyses, and decision makers are rarely data scientists, our team develops user-friendly dashboards in a close collaboration with the end users.
