Garnet Lake Photography Paddle

Details
This 302 acre lake located in the southern Adirondacks has minimal development due to the fact that New York State owns approximately 75% of the surrounding land. The sheltered valley it rests in with Mount Blue rising nearly 1,500 feet above the lake to the west, Ross Mountain rising to the north, and the cliffs of Crane Mountain being seen to the northeast making it a striking beauty.
We will launch our boats right across the road from the small parking area and head up to the south bay for some interesting photo ops of underwater rocks and/or the ghostly remains of an old forest (an estimated 1,000 tree stumps stick out of the water - think apocalyptic scene). Heading back those who wish can paddle to the other end of the lake passing the Garnet Lake Lodge and back to the take out point.
Please note: a pfd is mandatory for every participant.
Driving directions: Exit 23 off the Northway, through Warrensburg, left onto Rt. 28, at the first traffic light. left onto Rt. 8 through Johnsburg, left onto Garnet Lake Road. Stay on Garnet Lake Road & follow the signs for Garnet Lake Lodge; however, when you reach the dam, stay to the left to follow the lake to the parking area.
