Since I built Los Angeles's first 2-story ADU with a rooftop deck back in 2018, I’ve watched this industry evolve from "backyard cottages" into a powerhouse for wealth creation.
But right now, we are witnessing the biggest shift yet. The game hasn't just changed—it has been completely redefined.

From 1 ADU to 20 Units on a Single Lot
It sounds impossible, but thanks to new California State Laws (SB 684 and SB 1123), the "Missing Middle" is finally here. We now have a legal pathway to develop up to 10 separate lots on a single qualifying parcel, each with a duplex. That is 20 legal, rentable, and sellable units on land that used to hold just one house.
