Curious about fermented foods? This class will demystify the magic behind lacto fermentation, create excitement around the abundance of flavors, and build confidence through connecting with our senses. Students will be guided through the processes of wet and dry brine techniques, the importance of safety, how to evaluate successful (and not so successful) ferments, and ways to incorporate fermented foods into their daily lives. This class includes a wide variety of snacks, and each student will make a batch of sauerkraut to ferment at home.
Note: Please bring your own jar to the event so you can take your sauerkraut home with you. Your jar should be clear and at least 16oz. Glass is preferred, but plastic is ok. Wide mouth is useful, but not necessary. Any type of lid is ok.
