This is a group for the adults who grew up as a "third culture kid".
What's a third culture kid (TCK)?
A TCK is a child who spent a number of their developmental years in one or more countries other than their parent's country. The interaction of these cultures during these years leads to the formation of a "third" culture.
Being a TCK is such a complex experience which doesn't mirror that of another TCK. The influence of our parents' and host country's cultures as children and adolescents had a unique impact on us and how we see the world. This is something that you may have found others struggle to understand.
The goal of this group is to create a space where we can share our wonderfully unique experiences navigating various cultures growing up and how that's impacted our lives as an adult, from how we see ourselves (identity) to how we navigate various social environments (family, friendships, work) and form long-term connections.
My hope for the group is to have online and in-person meetups that are relaxed and comfortable. I'm open to event suggestions and I can't wait to see how this group evolves.
