OVERUSED: Fonts we've seen way too much...AND fave fonts we wish were used more

This week's discussion will be a show-and-tell of two kinds of fonts: the ones we've seen WAY too much of, like a radio hit that we used to like and now our are ears are fatigued; but ALSO fonts that we personally love, but think they don't get enough love from designers. The ones that are underused, and the ones that are definitely...

The font in the graphic above is Brothers Bold, and we are seeing it almost literally EVERYWHERE these days. For example, I first noticed it when Budweiser used it for their Lime-a-rita and other "rita" beers. Then I saw a friend use it in a music convention poster. Now I'm seeing it on packaging, online ads, TV commercials, print campaigns, etc. It's even the example font used on the WhatTheFont? web service.*

It's a demonstration of how a font gets overused; one agency uses it in a highly-visible campaign, it seems to convey a quality that lots of people want to be associated with (in this case, I'd guess that quality is "tough", since the font has no true lowercase), and then everyone starts using it for the same reasons. It's kinda like how Papyrus got overused in the 90s and early 2000s (and even that font's designer thinks it's overused).

So bring examples of typography that make you smile and/or cringe, make you go "squee" or go "blech", get your thumbs up or your middle finger.
