Adventure Weekend Rappelling Rock Climbing And Caving

Experience A Fun-Filled And Action Packed Adventure With Spectacular Scenery In Northeast Iowa. On Saturday we'll embark on an all day rappelling and caving adventure amidst high cliffs, amazing views and spring green. Camp Saturday night next to a beautiful river with a roaring campfire. On Sunday we'll visit a valley with incredible rock formations, including a natural arch, where we'll rock climb, safely attached to ropes at all times.

This is a beginner friendly trip for all skill levels, led by an experienced guide who has over 8 years experience leading climbing and rappelling trips. Climbing/rappelling gear is provided. You'll visit some of the most beautiful and rugged natural areas in Iowa! Optional drive up camping on Saturday night (Friday too!) and optional dinner at a mexican restaurant on Saturday (self-pay).

DIFFICULTY: Moderately strenuous for moderately active people. Moderate to moderately easy for very fit people. Not recommended for sedentary people. We'll be hiking approximately 5 miles on Saturday and 3 miles on Sunday.

RAPPELLING: Rappelling is not climbing. It means to descend down a cliff on a rope using a device that creates friction to control your descent. We'll be using a safety rope and/or fireman's belay for extra safety on the rappels. Also, the event organizer has 12 years experience canyoneering, completed a 5-day Advanced Canyoneering Course in 2016, and recertified as a Wilderness First Responder in 2023.

CAVING: Be prepared to crawl on your hands and knees so bring knee pads and warmer clothes as the temperature is around 50 degrees in the cave.

ROCK CLIMBING: Top rope protected climbing from grades 5.6 to 5.11

COST: $68.00 includes guide, climbing gear, instruction, Saturday rappelling & caving, Saturday night camping, Sunday rock climbing.
