Lud's Church has a 'wow factor'. It is a gorge or chasm in the surrounding rock and is approximately 20m deep and 100m long. It has steep, moss-covered sides, giving it a mysterious or mystical feel. It seems a little other-worldly; like you've stepped into a Lord of the Rings landscape.
We continue our hike up onto The Roaches - a wide ridge (a bit like Mam Tor if you've been on that hike with us) with views of the countryside below.

The highest point on this route is 505m. The route we will follow is 10 miles (16km) and will take around 6 hours. The ridge is a nice wide path, making it suitable for those with a fear of heights. We walk at a steady pace for this hike, but you should have a moderate to good level of fitness to allow you to complete the walk. The event starts and ends at the car park in Gradback, SK17 0SU (or the farmer's nearby overflow car park if that's full). We'll drive 5 minutes up the road to the New Inn Pub for a social chat and drink (non-alcoholic is fine) afterwards.

We meet at Oxenholme Lake District Station, on the edge of Kendal. Oxenholme is in the countryside yet arguably has the best connected station in the UK, with fantastic direct train services to Manchester, London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and other towns and cities.

This is nice and flat and takes us along to the River Kent for a period before looping back around. ​​This 8 mile (12km) walk takes approximately 4 hours. The route is relatively flat and easy; perfect for day out.

We walk at a slow / steady pace for this hike, only a low / moderate level of fitness is required.
​​
The event starts at Oxenholme Station Car Park and ends at The Station Inn (a couple of minute's walk from the train station), where we also pop in for a chat and drink at the end of the walk.​​​

This lovely riverside walk follows the River Wharfe upstream, before crossing over the bridge to pass Bolton Abbey on the return, downstream leg.

Afterwards, we take a visit to an awesome nearby American Diner (Billy Bob’s) where you can load up on calories again after! Please note that any food/drink at the diner is not included in the event.

The route we follow is 7 miles (11km), it gently undulates along the way but there are no major ascents or descents. The walk takes around 4.5 hours, including a wander through the grounds of the Abbey ruins.

We walk at a gentle pace for this hike, a low/moderate level of fitness is sufficient.

Borwick Hall in Lancashire is an impressive Manor House nestled between the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We provide a variety of fun and relatively gentle activities, including a social countryside walk, paddle to the pub, archery and indoor bouldering. Paddle to the pub involves a few miles along the canal for a quick drink, and bouldering is like climbing but no more than a few feet off the ground (you traverse sideways rather than upwards).
​​
Accommodation is provided for the Friday and Saturday nights, and on the Saturday evening we'll enjoy some food together at a local pub. ​​
