Hike to Irrsberg 🥾 & Swim in Irrsee 🏊
Details
Hi, everyone!
We are going on a summer hike to Irrsberg/Irrsee. The length of the hike is approximately 12 km with 400 meters of elevation gain. It's forecasted to be sunny with up to 28°C in the area. After the hike we will go for a swim in the lake Irrsee.
👋 Meeting:
We will meet at 08:45 AM inside the Linz Main Train Station (Linz Hbf) right next to the ÖBB ticket-vending-machines and the ÖBB Infopoint.
🎫 Train tickets:
As the trip is entirely done in Upper Austria, the Freizeit-Ticket OÖ is usable, and costs 25 EUR for every 2 people for the entire day on all the regional trains and busses. Alternatively there's the Einfach-Raus group ticket at 47 EUR for every 5 people on all the ÖBB regional trains (no busses).
Pro tip: make use of the yearly Klimaticket Österreich valid on all public transportation in Austria (the card costs: 1095 EUR/year, that comes down to 3 EUR/day, or about 91 EUR/month).
🚉 Journey:
- 08:45 Meeting at Linz Hbf
- 09:00 Linz/Donau Hbf => 10:56 Straßwalchen Bahnhof || S2 🚂
▶ Activities:
The hike is about 12 km long, and involves 400 meters of altitude difference. It should take us about 4 hours to complete it.
We will start the hike from the Bahnhof. We will hike to the top of Irrsberg (peak height 832 meters), where we will have lunch break.
Afterwards we will walk down to Irrsee, and go for a swim. Swimming is optional, so of course feel free to just hang out with the others on the beach/grass area.
Access to the lake can be done via the park/beach.
There are train connections back every hour.
