Paddleboarding river trip on River Lea - Hertfordshire - No experience needed

Join us for a relaxed day stand up Paddleboarding (SUP) on the River Lea from Rye House Gate House, Hertfordshire.

No experience needed & all equipment is included.

4 hours (including kitting up & Break for lunch)

Cost is £40 P/P
Start time - 10.00am (beginners) /10.30am Experienced
End time - 2.30pm (approx)

We will paddle up stream along the River Lea, starting at Rye gate house, we will follow the river upstream, through the heart of Lea valley. This is a lovely stretch of river surrounded by nature, if we are lucky we may see Herons, swifts and Great crested grebes.

All Kit and Equipment is provided

• Paddleboard
• Paddle
• Leash
• Safety belt
• Buoyancy aid

Where to meet:
Rye Gate House car park

Safety:
Everyone will be provided a buoyancy aid and a quick release belt. You must be able to swim 20 meters.

The paddleboards are suitable for anyone up to 85kg / 13.5stone.

Novices:
You must be confident in water
Ideally you will be standing up but you will also spend time kneeling on the board. You need to be able to be able to comfortably kneel for a period of time. If you are not able to do this you may struggle.
We will be paddling as a group.
We will spend 30 mins before the main group arrive going over some basics.

This session is run by a qualified and insured paddle Sport Leader and instructor. (British Canoeing Paddlesport leader & instructor, outdoor first aider, British Canoeing foundation rescue and safety qualified)

All our craft have up to date British Canoeing waterways license and 3rd party insurance.

What to wear/ bring:

Leggings (not cotton) / tee shirt (not cotton) and trainers (that you don’t mind getting wet)
Fleece/ waterproof jacket if the weather looks like it may be cold/ wet
Sunglasses/ suncream/ hat
Complete change of clothing
towel
Drink
Lunch

No dogs are allowed on our activities.

Weather:

We love the sun but if it is having a day off please be aware this activity will still go ahead in the rain. (You will splash yourself anyway!) Please dress for the weather.

If the weather forecast is unsafe (too windy or thunder / lightning is forecast) we may have to cancel the event. In the event of a cancellation due to unsafe weather conditions we will refund any money paid.
