# 🏔️ LAKE DISTRICT WEEKEND ADVENTURE

## Scafell Pike • Mountains • Lakes • Adventure

Join us for a fantastic Lake District weekend adventure, combining a challenging mountain day on Saturday with a relaxed exploration of the Lakes on Sunday.
This is ideal for people who enjoy hiking, mountains, beautiful scenery, adventure and meeting like-minded people.

# 🏔️ SATURDAY — SCAFELL PIKE CHALLENGE

Saturday is our main mountain adventure.
We will start from Great Langdale at approximately 9:00am and take on Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain.
The planned route is approximately 10–12 miles / 16–19 km, depending on the final route and conditions.
⏱️ Moving time: approximately 8 hours
🥾 Total day: approximately 9 hours including breaks
💪 Difficulty: Demanding / Strenuous
⛰️ Terrain: Rocky mountain paths, steep sections and uneven ground
🧗 Scrambling: Very limited on the planned route
This is not a beginner's hike. Previous long-distance or mountain hiking experience is strongly recommended.

### 🏆 ENGLAND'S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN

At 978 metres (3,209 ft), Scafell Pike is England's highest mountain and one of Britain's most famous mountain challenges. The summit is rugged and exposed, with conditions capable of changing rapidly. (nationaltrust.org.uk)
Scafell Pike was also donated to the National Trust in 1919 as a memorial to Lake District men who died during the First World War. (nationaltrust.org.uk)

# 🧭 YOUR ORGANISER / MOUNTAIN GUIDE

The event is led by an experienced, professionally trained mountain hiking guide and qualified mountain leader, with first-aid training and extensive experience leading people in mountain environments.
Our guide has completed the Scafell Pike hike more than 50 times over the past 20 years and knows the route, terrain and mountain environment extremely well.
This experience helps us manage the group, navigation, pacing and changing mountain conditions throughout the day.

# 🛏️ FRIDAY — ARRIVAL & HOSTEL

Everyone should arrive in the Lake District by Friday evening.
🚆 By train: please aim to arrive at Windermere Station by 9:00pm, where we will arrange collection and transfer to our accommodation in Great Langdale.
🚗 A car group will also travel from London on Friday, with spaces potentially available.
We have secured accommodation at a YHA hostel in Great Langdale, chosen for its location and suitability for this weekend.

### Only 10 beds available:

👩 5 female dorm beds
👨 5 male dorm beds
Breakfast is included, and we will provide packed lunch, snacks, fruit, nuts, protein bars and drinks for Saturday and Sunday.
🌱 Vegetarian requirements can be accommodated where possible.

Sunday is about relaxing and enjoying the scenery after Saturday's mountain challenge.
We'll explore some of the beautiful areas around:

🌊 Hawkshead
🌊 Windermere
🏘️ Lake District villages
📸 Scenic viewpoints and countryside
We'll enjoy some relaxed walking and sightseeing before travelling back towards Windermere Station for the return journey.

# 🌦️ WEATHER & SAFETY

The event is going ahead as planned.
Mountain weather can change quickly, particularly around Scafell Pike. Everyone must arrive properly equipped for changing conditions.
If weather or mountain conditions make the planned route unsuitable, the organiser may modify the route or select a safer alternative hike.
The safety of the group always comes first.
