Hi Bob,

I'll review the hike for you.  Do you want to send the write-up to me, or is it under the drafts section of the meet up site?

Are you talking about Mona Mak or a different Mona?  I do know Mona Mak and have hiked w/ her several times.

I didn't think that Saturday's hike was difficult, but it was treacherous where the leaves were involved.  Those flat rocks covered w/ dry leaves was like walking on marbles and w/o my trekking poles would have been really unpleasant.

If there are going to be similar situations in terms of the type of climbing we did on the hike you are planning, I would suggest that people wear pants that are loose fitting or regular hiking pants.  When you have to get to the next higher level, jeans do not give you the mobility required to easily make the stretch.

If the bail out trail is easy to follow that's fine to offer it as an alternative, or if you know in advance that one person would be willing to lead the group that wants to bail out that might be a better idea.  Many of these people are content to play "follow the leader" and don't want to be responsible for finding their way out of the woods.

Sorry I bailed on lunch, but I was not feeling well towards the end of the hike and have been in bed since I got home and am not going to work today.  I'm not sure if I'll be doing the Otter Hole hike as I kind of feel obligated to Terry as I was the one who asked her to post the other hike and she ended up rescheduling for the same day as yours. Funny how I've been trying to get to this place (Norvin Green) for 15 years and now I've hiked there 3x in less than 2 months!

I want you review the writeup of this hike. For those of you who attended Surpise Lake yesterday, that hike was rated a moderate hike.  In comparison with this hike (Norvin Green), this hike will be strenuous. We will be hiking at a moderate to fast pace to complete the hike in 4.5 hours. There are numerous steep climbs that even some intermediate hikers will find challenging toward the last 1/2 of the hike.
So with that in mind, there is a bailout option for those of you who may want to continue the hike.  However, please note that I will continue leading the planned hike.  For those of you who take the bailout option you would break from the group and  follow the green markers back to the parking lot. The length is 1.6 miles.
I have the best interest of you in mind and would strongly suggest you take up the offer of the bailout option.
