The group campsite is booked 6 months in advance and sells out within minutes, so we're pretty lucky to get it. I will open it up to RSVPs a few months before the date.

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park has 1,006 acres of redwood, oak, chaparral, and meadow areas. Hikers can enjoy 8 miles of hiking trails within the park and over 200 miles of trails in the Ventana Wilderness (USFS) which borders the park. Overlooks provide views of the Big Sur Valley and the Big Sur River Gorge. There is no coastal access from this park.
There is no vehicle access to the group campsites. Campers park on west side of Highway 1 and walk in to the campground (approx. 1/4 mile) across a seasonal wooden footbridge. No trailers or motor homes can be used at this site.
There are no dogs allowed at the campsite.
Check in at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park entrance kiosk. Both group camps are 1/4 mile north of the entrance of the park, west of Highway 1 and southwest of the Big Sur River.
Each reservation includes parking passes for 10 vehicles. Additional vehicles are charged per night at the park.
The campground has flush toilets and no showers. Campers may walk to pay showers in the main campground of the park.
Each site has a fire ring, potable water and picnic tables. There is a shared restroom facility withno showers, group picnic/BBQ area, and small amphitheater nearby.
The amphitheater seats 50 people and is subject to reservation for special events

For larger groups, two tent-only, walk-in Group Campsites are available for reservation. These campsites feature a large camping area, picnic tables, flush toilets, and access to one small amphitheater.

When the campground is full, en route camping may be available for vehicles with onboard flush toilets (usually motor homes and trailers). This is from 5 PM to 9 AM, maximum 1 night stay.
