Let's get together at my house and talk about our upcoming Current river trips including how and what to pack for an overnight kayaking adventure.

The Plan:

PART 1:
Gear Exhibition and Q&A Session

We'll meet at my house in Washington County, Indiana at 9:00am Eastern. I'll send out my address to attendees once they're signed up. I'll have one of my kayaks laid out in the barn with the majority of what I'm bringing on our 4 day Current River adventure in September. Ron (The Umbrella Man) will be coming as well to share his gear, packing savvy, and all around outdoor experience. We'll show you the types of gear that we have and how to pack it. You'll also be able to ask questions and we'll do our best to answer them. I also encourage you to bring your boat and equipment so that Ron and I can offer suggestions to assist you in your planning. Once we finish with the planning stuff, we're going to eat!

NOTE: Even if you aren't planning on attending the Current River adventure this September, this is a great event for those of you thinking about doing overnight trips out of your kayaks but may not be sure how to get started.

PART 2:
Brunch!

We're going to pile into as few vehicles as possible and then we're heading over to Goodfellas Pizza in Henryville for their brunch buffet. It's worth the trip! Good food and good service!

PART 3:
Elk Creek Lake

We're heading over to Elk Creek Lake for a paddle (this is back near my place). This is a small, DNR managed lake surrounded by hills. There a public access site with a concrete boat ramp as well as a trailhead for the Knobstone trail. The lake also has lots of wildlife including eagles, otter, and beaver. Come on out!

Rentals are available if anyone wants to join for the paddle and doesn't have a boat.
