With a summit at 867 ft above sea level making it the highest point between the coast and Hillsborough this little known state park presents several trails that might possibly be the closest simulation to mountain climbing you can get without leaving the Triangle. We'll do a combination of trails to get an altitude gain of 1,000 feet in 5 miles. Total distance for the event will be about 6 miles.
We'll try to maintain an average pace of 2.5-3.0 mph without any stops. Sturdy, closed toes shoes, water bottle and breathable quick-dry layers are recommended. No dogs. Slippery conditions (rain, snow, ice) or temperatures below freezing cancels.
