(Day Trip) Blue Ridge Parkway: Blowing Rock Area Hike Plus Fire Tower

Let's take a day trip to the mountains in the Blowing Rock area and hike the Flat Top Tower Road Trail near Moses Cone Manor. We'll climb up the fire tower at the end of the trail to take in the beautiful 360 degree view then hike the horse trail leading down to Bass Lake from Moses Cone Manor and back up to the Manor.

Total hiking distance will be about 8 miles. The trails are considered easy to moderate in difficulty. We may need one to two more drivers for this trip. Depending on interest, I may increase the attendees by a couple more people. Please split the cost of gas with your driver.

We'll meet in Chapel Hill at the MLK Jr. Blvd Harris Teeter parking lot at 6:30AM and leave promptly to try to get to the parking lot before it fills up! Park at the spaces farthest from the entrance of HT. I'll provide further instructions about the trip once we meet there.

Travel time will be 3 hours. Bring water to stay hydrated, snacks and lunch.
Afterwards, there's an option to make a stop in the Town of Blowing Rock for ice cream before heading home.
We should be back in Chapel Hill by around 8:00PM or earlier.
