Join THOG for another epic trip to Lake Placid, NY and the Adirondack Mountains. Instead of a solar eclipse, the main event will be the spectacular Fall Colors in northern New York. Other highlights of this trip include the Fall activities in and near Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain and the surrounding region as well the hikes on the summit trails in The Adirondacks.

PLEASE read this event description carefully

Our overnight accommodations in Lake Placid will be at one of the newest hotels. Note: Hotel availability is limited due to the popularity of this area in the fall.

This will be another two-day road trip event with a hotel stay at around the half-way mark. There will be an option to fly in as well.

Our trip begins on Wednesday, September 22, 2027 from the Triangle with an overnight stop in Allentown, PA. On day two, we will stop at a waterfall along the way, as we make our way to Lake Placid. We’ll then spend four amazing days in the Lake Placid/Adirondack Mtn region. We depart Lake Placid on September 27 to head to Allentown. The next morning we leave and arrive in the Triangle that evening. Our drive up and down the US will include strategic stops along the way to make the road trip enjoyable.
Our itinerary will include:
- Summit hikes and other hikes in the Adirondacks to do some leaf peeping which may include Whiteface Mountain, Owl Head Overlook, Coney Mountain, OK Slip Falls, High Falls Gorge, Azure Mountain, and others. In addition, we’ll visit some waterfalls.
- Oktoberfest celebration on Whiteface Mountain as well as hike to the Whiteface Mountain summit which has amazing views at over 4,800ft.
- Great Adirondack Moose Festival at Indian Lake, NY if it's that weekend,
-Exploring Lake Placid Fall events and downtown
-Visiting Olympic Village, the Olympic Museum and ice skating in Olympic Center.
We will have a more detailed itinerary as the trip gets closer. Please stay together as a group during this event. If you are wanting to do other things separate from the group, this trip may not be for you.

TRAVEL COSTS associated with this event include hotel for a total of 6 nights and gas sharing costs, which are estimated to be around $1,300 but can be reduced if you share hotel rooms. This doesn’t include the costs of food and drinks, admission to the venues, or souvenirs.

Once we know how many people will be going on this trip, we'll form carpools. We will need enough drivers for the trip up to Lake Placid and back. I'll be planning this trip in such a way that it will be as comfortable, accommodating and fun as possible.
If you decide to fly, let me know first before making your reservation.

IMPORTANT: We will have an in-person meeting for those going on this trip. It will take place sometime in March 2027 to discuss some trip logistics and updates to the itinerary. Please plan to attend.
