Leadership Lives - Rise: Women of the Global Majority Modelling New Leadership

Details

Want to move beyond cookie-cutter D&I programs that feel like they’re just paying lip service, rather than making a real difference? Keen to hear from authentic women leaders of the global majority, in their own words about what needs to change in the world of work? Our next Leadership Lives event promises exactly this.

Date: Wednesday 26th June at 1pm BST
Speakers: Anita Phagura & Siu Mun Li

We’re bringing together two trailblazers from the construction world for our next event… Anita Phagura and Siu Mun Li.
They’ll get real about their career journeys and the obstacles they’ve faced. They’ll share challenges, setbacks and times they had to fight unconscious biases.

But this won’t just be a venting session. The pair will also also share hard-won wisdom and insights on:

  • building real influence
  • embodying authentic leadership
  • becoming the role models they wish they’d had
  • how organisations can better support global majority women into positions of leadership
  • how to retain women of the global majority in your organisation

It’ll be a candid, thought-provoking dialogue that you won’t want to miss.
We could all use a hefty dose of inspiration and real talk from women who’ve been there. The world is changing, and events like this are how we all get to be part of that change.
So mark your calendars and join us on June 26th at 1pm BST for this unmissable Leadership Lives discussion!

Anita Phagura
Anita specialises in helping project leaders, predominately in male-dominated industries such as construction, to upskill their inclusive leadership competencies so that they embed diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging at all levels of managing and leading projects. This leads to better project delivery through improved safety cultures and the retention, engagement and promotion of diverse talent.

Anita is a skilled Inclusion Specialist, ICF Accredited Leadership Coach and Masters Qualified Project Manager with 15 years of experience in the male-dominated industry of railway construction. During this time, Anita developed, managed and sponsored projects of over £1billion value – including Electrification power upgrade projects, and Crossrail East overground stations. This combination of experience, background and skills puts her in a position where she is able to deliver transformational inclusion outcomes that are specifically suited to the construction industry and will impact those ‘on the ground’ with meaningful change.

#### Siu Mun Li

Siu is a highly accomplished civil and structural engineer with over two decades of experience in construction and is currently recognised as the Most Influential Woman in Construction. Siu is a Director of the UK’s Temporary Works forum and a committee member of the IOSH Construction Group.
In her career to date, Siu has delivered notable projects in the UK spanning rail, infrastructure and construction sectors such as HS1, Stratford Olympic Park Bridges, Crossrail and prominent high-rise structures like One Nine Elms, Damac Tower, 22 & 100 Bishopsgate.
