What we're about

Pining for the days of classic, old-school Dungeons & Dragons? Have you always wanted to join a gaming group that didn't involve thirty other people in a loud room? Do you prefer meaningful stories and characters over an endless litany of numbers, rules and books?! Looking for a character-based, long-term campaign with a small group, even in the midst of this pandemic?! Then fret no more, noble adventurer!

We're all about old-school gaming goodness for small groups (3-5 players), in a fun and safe setting for all experience levels and backgrounds, with music, sound fx and animated maps. Story-wise, we're running custom-built Adventure Modules and Campaigns based on the bard Cain Lethellon's call to adventurers, set in the small village of Riverthrow. While these modules are first-come, first-serve, characters will keep the experience and treasure gained, as well as the impact of their choices/interactions, as they continue in their adventuring careers and the overarching story-line of Tiamat's rumored return to Ternia. Also, when the inspiration strikes, we'll occasionally do one-shot adventures based on classic Dungeons & Dragons adventure modules and dungeon crawls.

Additionally, with Covid-19, we're currently running online games at Roll 20 (https://roll20.net/welcome) and we use Zoom as well to capture the "around the table" experience - this foul blight will not stop us!

For our rulebook/system, we use Swords & Wizardry, which is essentially the original iteration of Dungeons & Dragons in all its infinite glory and especially suited towards beginners. There's absolutely no obligation to read as we'll cover it in game, but if you'd like to check it out in advance, you can download a PDF (http://irontavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Swords-Wizardry-Complete-revised.pdf)copy for free (or if you'd like to buy the actual book, you can get it at Frog God Games (https://froggodgames.com/product/swords-wizardry-complete-rulebook/)).

Our first intro sessions are completely free, but if you'd like to continue with our campaign modules or standalone one-shot adventures (and would like to help kids!), we'd ask for a $12 donation to Extra Life... and ALL of the money goes directly towards our donation page (https://www.extra-life.org/participant/matt)... not a Paypal or Venmo account, so you know your money is making a certifiable difference... we hope you'll join us on an Adventure!

*Given that our meetups are small groups (3-5) at a private business instead of 10-20 members at a public event, we'd like to ask prospective members to please have a first name and a real photo in their profile if they'd like to join - thanks!*
