What we're about
Upcoming events (4+)
Friends - in person Monday Board Game Nights have restarted!
I'm also excited about the new location. We'll be gathering at The Bourse, a gorgeous & spacious Food Hall with lots of room, long tables, and a variety of food & drink vendors to choose from!
There is no fee and we'll be bringing our own board games. If you own lots of board games, feel free to bring a few of the ones that you don't mind teaching. And if you don't own any but still want to have fun, than just bring yourself.
I'll be adding details in the Comments and please feel free to also comment or ask questions. Additionally, you are welcome to mention which games you plan to bring in the comments as well.
Can't wait, see you there!
QUICK UPDATE -- with so much interest in attending our Dining event on Tuesday, I spoke with the owner at Nam Phuong and we can now raise capacity to 40 attendees! However, please still RSVP so I can get an accurate head count. See you Tuesday!
We'll be resuming our Dining series on Tuesday October 19th at Nam Phuong, a terrific full service Vietnamese restaurant in the Asian Mall at the corner of 11th & Washington Ave. Yes, that means there is FREE PARKING in the Mall's parking lot.
Nam Phuong is something of a hidden gem, tucked away on the side of the Mall. Its a surprisingly large restaurant, and I've reserved two large 10 person each round tables for our group. The capacity for this event is 20 people. We will each be getting separate checks, but you are also welcome to share food items with those sitting with you.
Nam Phuong features a wide variety of Vietnamese food and is reasonably priced. In addition there is a full bar, and I believe they even make their own bubble tea.
Here is a link to their menu online:
IMPORTANT: I will also be charging a $3 fee that should be paid in advance one day before this event to help me get an accurate count. I could say that the fee is going to MeetUp fees, yada yada yada, but honestly I want to charge a nominal, and non-refundable fee so that I know people are serious about their RSVPs. The restaurant & hospitality industry has suffered enough, I don't want us to be holding spots from other potential diners, or other members of our group who wanted to attend but thought the event was full. My hope is that this nominal fee will help me know that everyone is taking their RSVP seriously.
When RSVPing, please Venmo $3 to: @David-Meetup
If you need my phone # when paying, its[masked]
EXTRA -- in case our dinner inspires you to do some food shopping, the large supermarket in the mall is open until at least 9pm. Plus there is a Mr Wish Bubble Tea shop in the mall as well, ideal if some of us want to pop in there to hang out & socialize a bit longer after dinner.
You are welcome to message me through the MeetUp system or post a comment below with any questions.
I am really excited about this Dining series, but even more excited to be getting together with everyone again!
We will be watching a live jazz performance played by The Chronicles at Chris' Jazz Cafe. You can purchase your ticket online here: https://www.chrisjazzcafe.com/shows/153990
Tickets cost exactly $18.
I will be wearing my Meetup shirt and will be at Chris' Jazz Cafe 15 minutes early to stand outside and greet people. At 7:30pm we will walk in together. If you arrive after 7:30pm come inside and find us. There's no reserved seating, so if you show up late I can't guarantee you a spot next to us which is why it's important we all show up before 7:30pm.
If you have any questions feel free to message me. There is no limit to the number of people who can attend this event, so as long as tickets are available online you are welcome to join us.
Who wouldn't enjoy a drink with friends after work on a Wednesday?
Friends - join us on Wednesday at one of our favorite spots, TIME at 1315 Sansom Street. Look for us in the Whiskey Bar room on the first floor. TIME has both discounted drinks & bar food during Happy Hour, great for snacking or turning into dinner!
TIME'S Covid Policy
(cut & pasted from their website)
<< Restaurants were given the responsibility of requiring masks or requiring proof of vaccines. It has been decided that Time is much more enjoyable when you’re able to move freely and mask-less. It’s how these great memories are made, amazing new friendships are built, and how you can enjoy yourself safest. These are difficult times so please have patience and hopefully everything will pass!
For now, please show proof of vaccination once you arrive.
Thank you all for your loyalty and support. >>
Basically, when entering, you will need to show proof of vaccination & ID to show that you are over 21, and that the names match on your ID and vaccination card.
We are limiting this event to 60 people, and I may be able to adjust that upward. Still, please honor your RSVP so you are not taking a spot from someone else wanting to join us.
FREE LIVE MUSIC
Additionally, even though we initially gather in the Whiskey Bar room, later in the evening their will be live music in the main first floor dining room, and its totally OK to wander into that room to enjoy the music, which is free.
see you there,
