Hey Guys! I have always wanted to do the four waterfalls walk in the Brecon Beacons National Park, although all the trips I found out were usually requiring access to a car as the area is quite remote. I took it upon me to figure out a way to do this by means of public transport only. I am going to suggest potential ways by which you can join me on this.
Information about the walk:
4 Waterfalls Walk
Bring along the following items:

  • Good Hiking Boots
  • Hiking Poles
  • Rainy Clothes
  • Food for the day
  • A good water bottle (2-3 litres of water)
  • Some spare change for buses
  • A good Camera

Note: Good fitness is required for this hike.
Travel Arrangements to book:
Onward Journey: I will like to catch the earliest bus (X7) that goes until Glynneath (Pontwalby Bridge) from either Neath or Swansea, which is at 7:40 AM from Swansea City bus station and 8:07 AM from Neath Victoria Gardens on the 23rd of September.
I have checked a number of websites for if this service runs on all days and all barring one website states that this service will be running on the given Saturday.
In the rare case that it does not run, we will take the 8:40 AM bus from Swansea City bus station and 9:09 AM from Neath Victoria Gardens on the 23rd of September.

Neath and Swansea can be reached from london and cardiff in a number of ways:

Ways to reach Swansea:
From London: Way I am taking: Take the 8:30 PM Flixbus on 22nd September from London Victoria Station, which takes us to Bristol Bus Station Around 11:30 PM and then follow that with 00:50 AM on 23rd September Flixbus from Bristol which drops us at Swansea Around 3:30 AM. I potentially plan to walk to Swansea Beach which is 15 minute walk from the bus stand and wait for the Sunrise, then walk back to Swansea Bus Stand Around 7:00 AM and Grab a Coffee Somewhere. Wait for the 7:40 AM Bus (This way costs around 9 pounds to reach Swansea Currently)

From London: You can also potentially take the 00:30 AM 23rd September National Express Bus from Heathrow Airport to Swansea Bus Stand, which will drop you to Swansea at 5:10 AM and join the group along. (Costs around 22 pounds to reach Swansea Currently)

From London: You can also potentially take the 23:59 PM 22nd September Megabus from London Victoria to Swansea Bus Stand, which will drop you to Swansea at 6:10 AM and join the group along. (Costs around 18 pounds currently)

You are also free to find a potential way of your own, the same can be done by travelling from Cardiff a night before and then taking a morning train to neath (or something else) As far as you can catch the above mentioned X7 bus at 7:40 AM from Swansea or 8:07 AM from Neath, it works.

Walk will start at 9:00 AM from Glynneath (Pontwalby Bridge), from where we will walk our way to the Comin Y Rhos Car Park (about 4 miles) and then do the 4 waterfalls walk from this route (about 5 miles) and then walk back to Glynneath (Pontwalby Bridge) (about 4 miles). This should take us around 6-7 hours to finish (with potential lunch break on the way)
I then take the X7 Bus Back to Neath.

From Neath I am taking the 19:38 Train Back to London Paddington which will take me to london around 22:14 on the 23rd of September. You are free to take this route or plan your own way back from either Neath or Swansea Back to London.

I am not readily available on Meetup so if you have any doubts or if you book any alternative route and wish to inform me of the same, you can text me on Instagram at @priyesh.khandelwal
