Experience how woodland can help your Physical, Mental & Emotional Health.

ABOUT FOREST BATHING+.

This session is a gentle introduction to Forest Bathing+ and its benefits. Forest Bathing is an elementary practice (children instinctively enjoy nature this way) which can elicit surprisingly positive reactions. In a nutshell, it can be described as mindful time under the canopy of trees using the senses. Deep breathing is also encouraged; Japanese research uncovered essential wood oils help boost our immune system.

Some of the scientifically proven benefits of spending time in woodland include reduced stress levels, stronger immune system response, and a stabilised cortisol cycle.

During the session you will be provided with a sequence of sensory exercises designed to calm the body and mind. On screen, it doesn't sound that exciting, in practice participants love it! If you have ever wondered about the healing benefits of nature, this session should join some dots for you. To get a better idea of what to expect, please read the reviews below.

In 2017 staff members from NHS Lexden Hospital Health in Mind joined Gary & Olga's. Sample reviews below.

Liz Harrington (Deputy Clinical Lead) "Their knowledge about the forest and the trees was amazing and a bonus, a walk and science lesson in one session. I felt really uplifted and reflected on this on the drive home, I truly could not believe the impact it had on me. If I had not been and experienced it for myself I would not have believed how transforming it was. Thank you."

Kate Goodge (Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner) "I realised how out of touch we are with nature from the walk and I want to be able to carry on experiencing a part of myself which is just present when I am going out for walks in nature."

Previous trials include: The NHS, universities, academic institutions & charities, RSPB, National Trust, Surrey Wildlife Trust and Woodland Trust. You can find their Forest Bathing guides on the Forestry Commission website. Their trials have led to University studies. They are also regularly featured in the media, including the BBC.

In late 2018 Gary & Olga launched The Forest Bathing Institute which is dedicated to the replication of Japanese physiological scientific studies.
