Welcome to Afghan Roots! 🇦🇫

This group is for Afghans living in Southern California and anyone who is interested in Afghan culture, history, languages, traditions, and people.

Afghanistan is home to a rich and diverse cultural heritage, with many languages, traditions, and communities. Whether you speak Dari, Pashto, Uzbeki, Balochi, Pashai, or another language spoken in Afghanistan—or simply want to learn more about Afghan culture—you are welcome here.

The goal is simple: to bring people together, build genuine friendships, and create a community where we can connect through our shared interests, culture, and experiences.

We’ll keep things relaxed, welcoming, and open to everyone’s ideas. Activities may include:

• ☕ Coffee meetups, social hubs, and casual conversations.
• 🚶 Short walks, nature outings, and hiking around Southern California.
• 🎾 Tennis, snooker, and other fun recreational activities.
• 🗣️ Conversations about Afghan culture, history, language, and life experiences.
• 💡 Deep discussions about ideas, books, society, personal growth, and anything interesting.
• 🍽️ Exploring local spots, trying new activities, and meeting people from different backgrounds.

🤝 Who should join?

Whether you grew up in Afghanistan, have Afghan roots, speak an Afghan language, are part of an Afghan family, or are simply curious about Afghan culture, you’re welcome.

You don’t need to speak any particular language or have extensive knowledge of Afghanistan. An open mind, respect for others, and an interest in connecting with people are all you need.

A little about me

I’m someone who enjoys meeting people, exploring new places, playing tennis and snooker, hiking, and having conversations that go beyond small talk. I’m especially interested in finding great social hubs where people can relax, exchange ideas, and get to know one another.

I’d love for this group to grow organically, with members suggesting activities and helping shape the community.
