Join a group of 12 to 15 online for a discussion in French of a French film with English subtitles.
We'll send discussion questions on Wednesday morning, the day before we meet, to those who RSVP on Meetup.
The choice for this month is “Sparkling Cyanide.” Season 1, episode 1, of the "Les petits meurtres d'Agatha Christie" French TV series. 2013.
Made with various directors and starring Samuel Labarthe, Blandine Bellavoir and Élodie Frenck, these films retain Christie's plot, while everything else, from the characters to the gimmicks, is French. Labarthe plays a chief inspector who is assisted in solving cases by his secretary and a nosy journalist. It is interesting to see Christie from a French perspective. In this episode, Chief Inspector Laurence suspects that the suicide of a famous movie actress is, in fact, a homicide.
You'll watch the film on your own: view it for free on hoopla (https://www.hoopladigital.com/title/11899993), listed as "Agatha Christie's Criminal Games."
The meeting will be held on Zoom. Although you don't need to download Zoom to attend this meeting, we encourage you to do so (https://zoom.us/download) for a smoother experience. Depending on the number of attendees, we may break out into smaller groups.
The link to the meeting will be visible when you RSVP.
