Historical Tour of Johannesburg

On Saturday 9th August 2025 at 10am we will explore the inner city of Johannesburg. We are meeting at the entrance to the Market Theatre.

This walk is focused on understanding our past, discussing our present and predicting our future. The economics and the politics that shaped the largest city in South Africa.
Johannesburg is a city that has survived many difficult and interesting times..

* the Newtown shopping complex
* the old Park Station
* the new inner city housing developments
* the Workers Museum
* the original Dompas offices
* Kholvad House - Mandela house arrest
* the African Muthi shops on Diagonal St
* the outdoor Nelson Mandela museum
* the old Chinatown
* hidden Apartheid signage
