What we’re about
Hello, and welcome!
I'd like to invite you to join me in watching some fantastic movies (according to my guts and perhaps engaging in other activities too!). I've created this movie group to connect with fellow film enthusiasts during a time when many believe that films, or even the very word film ([https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photographic_film](film)) have become obsolete, reduced to just pixels and bytes perhaps. I am not sure if we should count films as just "contents" or not.
Nowadays, we find ourselves tempted to check our phones shortly after a movie begins, try to click the big screen to see how much time is left until the end, We might wonder why we didn't opt to stay home and stream the same movie for the cost of a month's subscription, Sitting still for two hours can feel like an eternity (there are even 3+ hours long ones, how dare!). I know it is hard and getting harder.
Well..
BUT I've always seen movies as a collective dream, where we step into the director's mind and imagination in that dark room. And, after the movie ends, we often find ourselves trying to reorient to the 'real' world, and this process can take days or even weeks. We remember scenes, voices, faces. Sometimes, life reminds us of a movie scene, triggering emotions. It's possible that someone in that movie theater feels the same way. We carry that emotional, visual mark with us for some time, perhaps even forever. It's akin to an 'afterimage' lingering in our eyes.
