Special Event: Make Impact, Not Software

Sellers Smith from Silverpop has arranged to have Gojko Adzic in town. Gojko has agreed to come and talk to our group. This meetup will be in addition to our regularly scheduled meetup on the 4th Wednesday. Attendance is limited to 50 folks, so please only sign up if you can really make it. Pizza and drinks will be served.

Software is everywhere today, and countless software products and
projects die a slow death without ever making any impact. Today's
planning and roadmap techniques expect the world to stand still while
we deliver, and set products and projects up for failure from the very
start. Even when they have good strategic plans, many organisations
fail to communicate them and align everyone involved in delivery. The
result is a tremendous amount of time and money wasted due to wrong assumptions, lack of focus, poor communication of objectives, lack of understanding and misalignment with overall goals. There has to be a better way to deliver!

Gojko presents a possible solution: impact mapping. It is an
innovative strategic planning method that can help you make an impact with software and fits in perfectly with current lean and agile
delivery models.

Gojko Adzic is a strategic software delivery consultant who works with
ambitious teams to improve the quality of their software products and
processes. He specialises in agile and lean quality improvement, in
particular agile testing, specification by example and behaviour
driven development. Gojko's book Specification by Example was recently awarded the #2 spot on the top 100 agile books for 2012. In 2011, he was voted by peers as the most influential agile testing professional, and his blog won the UK agile award for the best online publication in 2010.

Great Event. Impact Mapping has made it onto my must read list. I am surprised how nicely Adzic's ideas dove-tailed into ideas presented by Steve Blank and Alexander Osterwalder.

This was a great talk. It gave me lots of Good Ideas and I'm looking forward to reading Gojko's Impact Mapping book. It's available from Amazon, or directly from -- which has articles, videos, and a link to buy the book.

Great talk. Gojko provided a great way to think about how projects should get started and how to make them more successful.

Really good, but I felt like Neo in the Matrix, when they did the brain dump. A ton of helpful info in a relatively short time. I hope the slides and video of the presentation will be available ;)
