Lightning talks! Theme: Org Culture Issues You've Faced, & Overcome - Or Not!

I've been asked to host a session on "Organizational Culture Issues You've Faced, How You've Overcome Them - Or Not". Since the topic is deep, the format will be Lightning Talks to add lightness and fun to the event.

The location will be at the Courtyard By Marriott, Times Square, 307 West 37 Street, NY

We'll have the Tribeca room (one floor below the Bistro).

Start is 6pm, on Jan 10, duration 90 minutes max.

Please come if you RSVP, space will be limited as we're capping the event at 30 people max.

What are Lightning Talks?

• In a time box of 90 minutes, 5 minute talks will be arranged in one session, ordered by shortest talk first.

• Important to note: the max length of talk is 5 minutes.

How does this work?

• As you arrive, you'll be given a post-it note. Jot down the title of your 5 minute talk, and the time you need to present (5 minutes or less!)

• Place the post-it on the wall. We'll order these talks by the shortest talk first.

• 6:15pm we'll begin presenting by the shortest talk first.

• We'll have a timer running giving you 5 minutes max, and 3 minutes for Q&A afterwards.

Why would I want to show up for Lightning Talks?

• Lightning Talks are fantastic for spreading the word about COOL NEW TOOLS, METHODS, or IDEAS!!!

• Maybe you don't have much to say, but it's really important point (perhaps ask a question, invite people to check out your project, or tell a short 'gotcha' story that will help out the next person.)

• You can start small - you don't need to make slides, and if you do decide to make slides, you only need to make a couple.

• Sharing in public makes you nervous. Lots easier to plan for and share a 5 minutes!

• You did a really great thing in the last project and somehow this point got lost in the Release celebration.

• A long talk on the same subject can be a waste of time (Lightning talks are over in 5 minutes or less!)

And finally, if there's something that you really want to learn more about, you will have made the contact in only 5 minutes or less.
