Part 1 of our 3-part series: "All Decisions Are Design Decisions"

Our first part in this series focuses on facilitating decision making at the team level:

Design is all about decision making. From the highest level strategy to the most minute UI tweaks, we are constantly evaluating and re-evaluating how best to meet the intended goals.

As a designer, you may be the best person on the team to make a lot of those decisions, but given the complexities of business goals and tech constraints, the most effective designers bring their team into the design process early and often, to get their knowledge, feedback, and buy-in.

This workshop will give you tools to facilitate decision making around design in a way that's both efficient and collaborative.

We'll work in small groups on a hypothetical project. First, we'll set up the problem we're trying to solve and the goals. Next, we'll diverge, stretching ourselves to come up with many ideas in a short time period. Finally, we'll explore a few techniques to converge, and decide next steps.

Throughout, we'll offer tips to make the process smooth when you take it back to try it out with your own team!

------------

Linda Joy and Francisco Hui will lead the workshop. They discovered the power of effective meeting facilitation at Pivotal Labs, where they worked with a wide range of clients. Now they're working as product designers at Teachers Pay Teachers, applying those skills to new teams, environments and products!

------------

Stay tuned for Parts 2 and 3 of our decision-making series! We'll examine approaches to scaling decision making across an organization and facilitating decisions of consequence. Get amped.
