What
A Hypothesis Mapping Workshop for Agile Coaches & Transformation Advisors

Why
We're heading into the season when organizations plan their strategy for the year ahead, and from that strategy flow next year's budgets, and often a reshaping of how the organization is designed. It's a high-leverage moment, and an easy one to rush through on autopilot.

This workshop offers a simple method for the people whose job is to help their organization thrive through that moment, and to keep it grounded in reality. You start by assessing the current situation objectively, set clear goals and intentions, then break them down into a set of hypotheses you can validate (or falsify?) rather than simply hope for.

The best way to learn a method like this is to run it on yourself first. So over three hours you'll build a strategy for your own year — and walk away with a facilitation tool you can bring straight back to your teams and clients.

What is Hypothesis Mapping?
Hypothesis Mapping is a strategic-planning method created by Alexander Byndyu, building on Gojko Adzic's Impact Mapping. It insists on one honest question first — "why should this even work?", and lays out the logic visually:
Goal ← Agents ← Hypothesis ← Task

  • Goal – what success actually looks like, in measurable terms
  • Agents – the agents (people/teams/organizations) whose behavior you need to engage or shift
  • Hypothesis – why a given move should move them (and you) toward the goal
  • Task – the smallest piece of work that tests whether the hypothesis holds

It's the shift from project thinking (plans and tasks) to product thinking (assumptions and experiments) – this time applied to your own practice.

What we'll do
We’ll work mostly in your own space – with support from the room and from participants joining online, and build your map layer by layer:

  • Values & principles – what you stand for as a human
  • Goals for the year – translating those principles into concrete outcomes
  • Metrics – leading, lagging and balancing indicators, so you know what "achieved" really means
  • Key agents – who can help (or might stand in the way) you get there
  • Hypotheses – the bets you'll make to influence them, right down to the first tasks that test each one

We’ll move between quiet individual work and small-group exchange, so you get both thinking time and sharp outside perspective.
You’ll walk away with:

  • A personal Hypothesis Map – your strategy for the year on a single canvas
  • Hands-on experiene in a method you can use with your own teams and clients
  • Fresh perspective and connections from across the Helsinki coaching community

Format & logistics
This is a hybrid session. Join us in person at the Eficode Helsinki office, or online via Google Meet and work along with us — the exercises are designed so remote participants can take part fully, not just watch. The event has a 35 person limit for in person participants, but up to 100 can join online. RSVP as going if you are going to participate IN PERSON. We'll share the Google Meet link here.

  • Time: Monday, 17 August 2026. Doors open 15.30, we start at 16.00, and wrap up around 19.00
  • In person: Eficode office, Helsinki – Pohjoinen Rautatienkatu 25B
  • Online: Google Meet link, shared with registered participants before the session
  • Language: English
  • Bring: a laptop, and come with your own coaching/advisory year in mind. We'll build our maps on a shared online whiteboard so on-site and remote participants work together.
