Help Ge Effektivt set up agile routines to alleviate famine (and more)!

Details

Welcome to Agile for Good, the meetup where agilists and world improving organizations come together to maximize their positive impact.

The NGO we'll meet in this session is Swedish Ge Effektivt. They are a donor advisory organization channeling donor money to highly cost-effective projects within the climate, global health, global poverty and animal suffering alleviation.

As the organizations is growing from 2 to 3 persons Sanna at Ge Effektivt is very interested in getting some best agile practices and routines to structure their work being a very small organization. She is open for a lot of suggestions and sent this wonderful little list of things she would love to hear advice about:

  • Help us plan realistically – accounting for sick days, leave, and the unexpected
  • Strengthen weekly planning and shared structure – especially as our team has grown
  • Timeboxing our work based on priorities and value – avoid endless tasks
  • Set sustainable exercises of a "good enough is enough" mindset – focus on 80/20 instead of perfection
  • Create routines for reflection, learning, and course correction – not just running forward
  • Establish meeting focus – keep social time, but reduce off-topic discussions
  • Exercises for clarifying roles and mandates – make us less vulnerable when someone’s away

For this session and as there are quite a few agile asks in this session, we decided to try to have this session in an agile coffee- format (modified as it is the org that choses and grade the topics), which we think can bring some extra value.

If you are excited about helping a (very) small team doing great things, and amplifying impact in many pressing cause areas (more so now than in a long while), I suggest you join this session!

Agenda:

  • 11.45 CET: Drop in, meet and greet. A nice way to ease yourself into the meetup, but highly optional.
  • 12.00 CET: Meeting start/ presentation round - Let's get introduced!
  • 12.05 CET: Problem solving time - Your time to shine! Sanna will give a brief presentation of Ge Effektivt and the challenges they face. We'll collaborate on finding solutions in the session - hopefully offering some valuable ideas within our limited time frame.

Anyone interested in giving continued support to Ge Effektivt going forward will have the opportunity to exchange contact details.

  • 12.55 CET: Evaluation and wrap-up.

As usual, we use the law of two feet: feel free to join and go as it works for you and of course also to eat during the meeting as it is lunch time in Sweden/Central Europe!

Looking so much forward to seeing you!
Daniel & Pia
