Serious Games in Cybersecurity: From Inspiration to Innovation

Details
Explore how serious games can tackle cybersecurity risks, get inspired by Till Hasbach’s game design workshop, and take your first step toward creating the next big cybersecurity game in the CyberSec Game Challenge.
After a quick introduction by CyberSec Games, we will kick off a hands-on exercise led by guest speaker Till Hasbach. Till will introduce one of his structured yet creative approaches to game design in the context of cybersecurity, focusing on six key elements: Players, Playspace, Objects, Actions, Rules, and Goals. This method helps ensure that games not only play well but also make a lasting impact.
It’s the perfect warm-up to spark creativity and set the tone for the rest of the session where Simon and Devika Gibbs (co-founders of CyberSec Games) will walk you through CyberSec Game Challenge, a competition inviting creative minds of all kinds to help us reimagine how cybersecurity can be explored through physical games. They will discuss:
- What the competition is and why it matters
- What kinds of game ideas they’re looking for (cyber relevance, creativity, educational impact, engagement, feasibility)
- How to submit - what to include and how to describe your core concept
Whether you’re an experienced designer or completely new to the field, this event will offer practical insights, fresh ideas, and inspiration to fuel your creative journey.
We look forward to seeing you !
