Agile Humans Meetup #50 part 1 - Retrospective Anti-patterns

Details
Retrospective Anti-patterns
Let’s Discuss Retrospective Failures and How to Avoid Them
Welcome to our 50th meetup!
In order to define the future, we must first study the past. That's what a retrospective approach is for. In an agile culture, this is not just a meeting but an opportunity to improve the overall work process and help us see our organisation's new potential. So why do we feel uneasy when it comes to using a retrospective approach? Let's discuss the following:
- Why do we sometimes just want the meeting to end as soon as possible?
- When do we fall into vicious circles?
- Are we running over the things that are holding us back?
- Do we have the habit of putting off solutions until a challenge turns into a problem?
Don't be afraid to talk about mistakes! This meetup is entirely dedicated to discovering and overcoming the anti-patterns that continually repeat themselves in retrospective meetings, which can significantly negatively affect both the productivity of the meeting and the people on your team. If you've been a facilitator or have participated in an agile retrospective, you don't want to miss this great opportunity to hear from an expert facilitator, Aino Vonge Corry, and learn how to avoid failure and mistakes that can hold you back from moving your organisation forward.
Based on her rich experience, Aino will introduce us to those anti-patterns that appear during retrospectives, and which represent obstacles in team communication, productivity, the will to improve work processes, and in an agile way of thinking. When we become aware of the mistakes we make and have the knowledge of how to correct them, the result is immediately felt, both in team cooperation and in the products of our work.
Sometimes it's easier to talk about the steps that lead us to a certain goal, but true success lies behind understanding the wrong steps. Aino will help you fall back in love with the agile retrospective, awaken creativity in solving problems, quickly recognise anti-patterns and avoid them.
This meetup is proof that talking about mistakes can be fun; we’ll be thrilled to see you online on November 3rd from 6:30 p.m.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Aino Vonge Corry is a teacher, a technical conference editor, and a retrospective facilitator. She holds a master’s degree and a PhD in computer science, has 12 years of experience with patterns in software development, and over 15 years of experience with the facilitation of retrospectives.
For the past 5 years, she has been focused on facilitating the agile journey for several companies in Denmark. She also teaches how to teach computer science to teachers, and thus lives up to the name of her company; Metadeveloper. She is always interested in hearing anecdotes about octopuses.
After this gathering, we continue celebrating our 50th meetup anniversary - at 8 p.m. another special guest will join us!
